A Man of God

A Man of God

Inspired by Busta Rhymes, A Man of God picked up the pen at the age of sixteen, and claimed the title “The Regulator” in 2004. Starting off as “One Of The Worst Artists To Ever Pick Up A Pen”, he felt he lacked lyricism and delivery, but was confident enough to showcase his talent to his high school peers. The initial response was negative! He then dug in and took the time to develop a profound and unique style of his own, one sounding like no other! He read the dictionary, listened to how other artist delivered their lyrics, began using artistic concepts, and applied metaphors within his lyrics. Over time, he became more confident in his lyricism and began showcasing his talent to his high school peers once again. The response was so positive, his peers began asking him to take time out of his day to rap for them. He was astonished at the progress he made in such a short time! At that point he decided to change his stage name from “The Regulator” to “Professor Einstien” and was confident enough to put thought into making this art form called “Rap” into long-term career. Entering into the limelight of his local town as a Hip Hop recording artist, while at the same time working a 9 to 5, was starting to pay off!

In the midst of his career taking off, a series of unfortunate events transpired which resulted in A Man of God doing time in the county prison. During his time in the county, as a natural result, he began losing interest in rapping but still rapped often. He still had the talent but lacked the passion he once had in emceeing. As he put it, “My first time in county was stressful as HELL! The only thing that kept me calm was the music playing in my head. And it wasn’t just anybody’s music, it was my music”!

He began to wonder if he had the talent to produce music and had the patience to learn the ins and outs of music production. It seemed that he always had beats playing in his head, but had no idea how to transfer them from his mind to production software. That’s when he realized he had a new love and passion for making music and wanted to pursue the field of music production. While in county, he would often beat on the table while simultaneously beat boxing for the inmates who rapped. They appreciated his concept of beat making/emceeing his passion that went along with it.

Upon the very night of his release, he was taught the basic’s of how to produce by his brother, starting his journey into the field of music production. Starting off as “One Of The Worst Producer’s On The Planet”, he felt he lacked concept and imagination. The beats he made either had too much or too little. While lacking initial direction, he did have inspiration (Dr. Dre) and self-motivation! Over time he became more familiar with music production and developed a signature sound. Through smart-hard work and dedication, he found his groove and proceeded to change his title from “Professor Einstein” to “A Man of God”. He completed his first instrumental album in October of 2007 and hit the streets selling it immediately! The response was breathtaking! During that time, he was blessed enough to start meeting other independent artists like himself. He began to link up with these local recording artists selling beats, performing, and perfecting his craft. His breakthrough moment was when he got the opportunity to meet Dr. Dre! But once again, unfortunate events transpired which resulted in A Man of God doing pen time. Thirty-Eight long months for a crime he didn’t commit! During this period he grew up spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. As much as he hates to admit, the time spent incarcerated was necessary.

Upon his release, unlike the first time, he was prepared! He wrote down on paper a 2-year plan and began following it the moment he arrived home! Now the possibilities for the future are endless.
